Looking at any tangible object, what makes you consider something "precious"?
What kind of quality would connect it to our pre-perception of preciousness? Is it something glittering, shiny, delicate, or with colours relating to precious metal ?
These questions are the starting point for EK THONGPRASERT's Spring Summer 2010 Jewellery collection. Based on classical jewellery silhouettes which refers to precious objects depending on the wearer's personal history, the collection's shapes goes from outline of crown jewel necklaces to simple forms of chains. The work maintains its original silhouette, but discards any normally expected details.
The necklaces details are blended together to form a piece constructed with facets of different shapes and angles inserted with color dyed horse hair leather, creating contrast with the brushed metal. Each pieces proportions have been deliberately enlarged to enhance it's appearance and precious effect.
