Octavio Pizarro was born in Santiago, Chili, where he studied applied arts obtaining a degree in fashion design and manufacturing , before following the fashion class of L’Ecole de la Chambre Syndicale in Paris, fulfilling his dream…studying and living in Paris.
In 1996 he started as creative studio assistant at Jean Louis Scherrer, and only a year after he became Creative Director at Jacques Fath , for over 5 years he designed ready-to-wear and developed the accessories for the french fashion house. In 2002 a new adventure brought Pizarro at Guy Laroche to design the ready-to-wear collection, a new house, new experiences in design from the rigour to the flou ,the construction to the draping.
2005 saw Pizarro launching his own collection , where his south american roots meet with French luxury. His collections are composed mainly of scarves, stoles , ponchos and intricated knits made in the most refined Alpaca or merino wool. The alpaca is a legendary animal living in the high plains of the Andes , in South America, its wool is smooth and of an extremely light weight, it can only to be worked by following ancestral traditions and needs to be “handled” by great craftmen to obtain a refined yarn, readyto be knitted, crocheted , weaved …
Alpaca, silks, gauze, leather, cotton, feathers and fur …are mixed in a perfect alchemy using techniques like crochet and macramé to create ponchos, kimonos, scarves that can be worn with evening dresses or with daywear, with the same ease.
Modernity of lines, colors and textures, from strong black to brown, beige, white and red, the alpaca wool is mixed with leather, fur, crystals, horse hair to create a sophistication mixed with a certain roughness, edgy but chic, rock'n'roll but classic pieces for all women's wardrobe.
