Music heroes, sports heroes, war heroes, fictional
heroes of books and movies; Laitinen spring-summer 2013 is dedicated to heroic
wardrobes and the way they are adopted by the people, who worship their idols.
The collection merges elements from athletes’ uniforms and soldiers’ armours to
the personal styles of Anna and Tuomas Laitinen’s most loved musicians and characters
in literature and cinema. Paper nylon and coated cotton sportswear is mixed
with biker jackets and trousers in washed reindeer leather and tailoring in traditional
wools by the 170 year-old Savile Row merchants Holland & Sherry. The
digital prints paying homage to Peter Saville’s decaying flowers on the New
Order album sleeves, urban graffiti and guitar heroes Johnny Marr of The Smiths
and Bernard Butler of Suede are once again co-designed with photographer Chris
Vidal Tenomaa.
